How it works

Domain status comes straight from the registries (RDAP, with WHOIS where a registry has no RDAP), so "registered" means a registration exists today. "Not registered" means the registry has no record; a few names are still reserved or sold at premium prices. GitHub and npm are checked against their public registries.
